Apologies and Thank Yous

“‘allo! This is Jacques. I had to commandeer my mommy’s computer because she is, in my opinion, slacking on the job. You see, she is supposed to be writing about ME. I do lots of interesting and amusing things daily like nap, bark at clouds, yodel when the UPS guy drives by, nap… oh. Yes. I already mentioned that. Well, she is not writing about me. No! Instead, I find her writing about volcanoes and plate tectonics for her class and googling torn tendons because she now has a stupid, ugly boot on her foot. (I do not understand how something on your foot can keep you from typing…) Occasionally I find her googling snorkeling spots in the Caribbean, but that I find acceptable. The rest – no! She should be writing about ME!! So, my dear blogosphere friends, I want to apologize for the lack of Jacques’ Dog Blog lately. It looks like in addition to manning, er, dogging my Instagram account, I shall have to dog my blog too! (At least until the semester is over and/or Mommy gets the stupid boot off her foot.) Ha-rumph!

And, now… on to more important and impressive things. I want to send a special THANK YOU to my friend, Noodle, who nominated me for the Blogger Recognition Award!! Noodle, you and your mom are too kind! Thank you so much! I am humbled. Wait. I do not know if I am capable of that… I am humbled to the best of my abilities. Yes.

There are, apparently, rules and so on that come along with this award. I do not do so well with rules, but I will give it a try. I am supposed to share how this blog got started… I think Mommy started this blog because she likes to laugh at me. No, no. It is okay. I know she likes to laugh at me and I, Jacques, will let her laugh. I am unconfidently confident in myself; her laughter does not bother me. In fact, I find myself trying to make her laugh because… well, it makes me happy. There. I said it. I, Jacques, love my mommy and like to make her laugh. So, I let her share it with you, my blogosphere friends.

I am supposed to list a number of blogs who have impacted me and/or this blog. There are simply too many. When Mommy misses Rocky and shares it, so many of you offer kind words and loving stories. We have friends who share adventures from all over the globe. Friends who offer historical stories about Hawaii. Friends who share crazy/strange/fascinating stories about food and travels in Italy. Friends who share their wisdom and insight on life and getting older. Friends who are cats (shocking, no?) whose lives put any telenovela to shame. We even have friends who blog in haiku. I do not know what that is, but Mommy loves it. And, of course, we have our fantastic four-legged, furry friends. All of you make Mommy smile, laugh, and pause to think. I know I speak for Mommy when I say, ‘THANK YOU!!!’ to all of you! You are wonderful! Thank you again, Noodle, for this nomination.

Now, it is nap time… being ‘humble’ is hard work.  Until next time, my friends.”

Thank you, Carol!!

While Carol might not let her award nomination go to her head, Jacques totally will (because he knows nothing about being humble). So I might not tell him until after the fact… Just to make my life easier.

versatie-blogger-bigThank you, Carol, for nominating Jacques’ Dog Blog for the Versatile Blogger Award. We know it was very hard to narrow it down to a manageable list because there are so many great blogs out there. We are truly honored to be on the list.

If you have not met Carol, you absolutely must!! Her blog is entertaining and addictive and… well, you just need to read it for yourself. As a warning, do not read her blog while sipping on any beverage unless you want said beverage to be spewed all over the place. Her blog often causes hysterical laughter.

In order to accept this award, Jacques must list seven things about himself. Hmm. He’s napping, so I’ll take the liberty of making the list for him. (I’ll be nice.)

1. Jacques fancies himself a dandy. HAAAA!!!

jacques_poirot2. He is not familiar with the concept of “let it go,” nor is he familiar with the song from Frozen. He is a true terrier – once he sees something or wants something, he will not stop until it is his.

3. Jacques is a napaholic and often times sleeps in the strangest places.

IMG_06484. He is like Wall-E and needs sunlight to recharge his batteries.

walle_jacques5. Jacques often acts like a cat. He likes to perch on things and to play the “if I can’t see you, you can’t see me” game.

confused26. He DOES NOT like sharing his toys. If another dog takes one of his toys, he will have a complete meltdown. He sits and shakes and refuses to let the toy out of his sight. Once the other dog has relinquished the toy, Jacques will very stealthily get the toy then run off with it.

7. Jacques will steal your heart. He will take it when you least expect it. You can’t fight it – trust me.

wantedWanted for stealing hearts…

Nominations
Though Jacques and I are new to the award thing, we quickly learned that some bloggers enjoy being nominated and others… not so much. We’re going to nominate just a few of the many, many blogs we enjoy – please know there’s no pressure to accept the award. The nominees are (in alphabetical order):

A Dog Called Storm

Bubba and Fling

Golden Kali

Stitch Boom Bang

Year of the Dog

Thanks, again, Carol! And thank you to our readers and followers!! We really enjoy sharing our (mis)adventures with you!!

Our First Award! We’re So Proud!

liebster award

Jacques’ Dog Blog was graciously nominated for this award by our new friend, Kona (a.k.a. Mr. Baloney Head) This is our first award! We are so excited!! Thank you, Kona, you handsome devil, you! (Seriously, you should check out his blog – he is so cute!)

Mr. Baloney Head asked us to answer these 11 questions he pawed, er, penned himself. I will be answering for Jacques since he is a terrible typist.

1.       Why do you blog?

Jacques is a clown. He likes to make people laugh, so I thought I would share the laughter by blogging about his (mis)adventures.

2.       What is your favorite type of animal in the world, real or mythical?

Jacques likes squeaky toy animals. I would say those are his favorites.

3.       What is your least favorite type of animal?

There’s a squirrel, some bunnies, and a road runner that live around our house. I don’t think Jacques particularly cares for them. At least he doesn’t act like it.

4.       What do you do for fun?

Sleep. Eat. Run. Sleep. Play. Eat. Jacques lives for fun… except when he’s sleeping.

5.       What is your favorite weather, and why?

Jacques loves sunny, mild weather. Though really, as long as it’s sunny and not too cold, he loves it. He likes to go outside and “recharge his batteries” in the sunlight.

6.       How would you describe your personality?

Jacques is a highly strung, tightly wound, stubborn, unable to focus (or learn) snuggle bug of a clown. He’s perfect!

7.       If you could change one thing about your humans (or your pet if you are a human answering this) what would that be?

Jacques wants me to take him on walks more often – it doesn’t matter if he’s already gone on several that day… he wants to go on another one.

8.       What is your most prized possession?

While I would like to think it’s his family, I’m realistic. It’s his Lambchop squeaky toy. Hands down. He’s been through five of them.

9.       Where is your favorite place to visit?

It would be easier to pick places he DIDN’T want/like to go. (The local splash pad. He does not care for that place.) Jacques LOVES to get out and go!

10.   What is your most delicious food to eat?

Fromage, er, cheese!!! He loves cheese!! Carrots are a close second.

11.   What makes you smile (or wag)?

Jacques is a very happy guy. He wags his tail at just about anything. The wag that I love to see most though is when his Daddy gets home from work. If Jacques’ tail went any faster, it might just fly right off!! Jacques’ tail will wag super-fast and he will tap-a-tap-tap his feet on the tile floor dancing around his Daddy’s feet before jumping up and down and saying hi. Jacques will follow my husband around the house doing this until my husband stops what he’s doing and pets Jacques (which inevitably turns into a rasslin’ match). It’s really sweet.

 11 Random Facts About Jacques

1. Jacques is scared of bubbles. And many other things (though don’t tell him I said that – he’s got a delicate ego).
2. He will run through the house and then hop in the bathtub when it’s bath time.
3. He is a creeper. My husband and I often feel like we’re being watched and will look around only to see Jacques in the doorway staring at us.
4. Jacques is not a morning dog. DO NOT mess with him before 9 a.m. and/or before he’s had some snuggle time.

5. He grunts and grumbles. A LOT. He sounds like an old curmudgeon sulking through the house.
6. Jacques isn’t the sharpest tool in the shed. I love him, but he’s not one for learning. I think he’s hoping he’ll get by on cuteness.
7. He is an absolute bed hog – specifically, he hogs my side of the bed and all of his Auntie G’s bed when she visits.
8. Jacques always has to have the last word. When he gets called in for the evening, he’ll look over his shoulder and give the coyotes/bunnies/raccoons/whatever a piece of his mind before coming inside.
9. He absolutely LOVES getting his head and ears rubbed/scratched.
10. He has a hilarious swagger when he walks that has been the subject of several comments by the neighbors. (In fact one day while we were out walking, a neighbor stopped us as he was driving by to tell us how funny Jacques’ swagger was.)
11. My mother-in-law inadvertently turned Jacques into a lap dog by letting him sit in her lap one weekend. Since then, anytime I sit down, Jacques magically appears, wanting the okay to jump up (it’s scary how fast this happens!). If he’s told no, he will walk away grumbling then throw himself down with a loud “harrumph!” If he’s told yes, he will jump up, make himself comfortable, and promptly fall asleep.
